Another reviewer said that this kit is not needed, that just a single box controller is needed, for a late model Ford Ranger. That is not true. This is the only kit that plays well with the safety features of these trucks, namely, the Forward Collision Warning System and the Automatic Emergency Braking System. With any current aftermarket trailer brake controller, if the emergency braking system activates, only the truck's brakes are triggered, but not the trailer. This would potentially cause a jackknife situation or worse, since there is no braking on the trailer. This is the only kit that Ford has approved for compatibility with the safety system.
